How to prepare drawings for a quote
A good quote request saves both sides time: the fabricator doesn't have to guess or ask, and you get a quote you can compare with others. Here is a checklist of what to send with a request for a steel structure.
File formats
We accept DWG, DXF, STEP, IFC and PDF. A 3D model (IFC or STEP) with PDF drawings works best: the model shows geometry and weights, the drawings dimensions, tolerances and notes. DXF is good for the outlines of plate parts to be cut. If you send PDF only, make sure every dimension is on the drawing and readable.
What the drawing should show
- Quantities: how many of each assembly and part.
- Steel grade, for example S235 or S355, and any requirement for material certificates.
- Sections and plate thicknesses.
- Dimensions, and the tolerances that matter for how the structure works.
- Welds with EN ISO 2553 symbols: type, size and length.
- Holes, bolts and connections.
- The execution class under EN 1090-2 (EXC1 to EXC4) if the structure is load-bearing.
- Surface protection: corrosivity category, durability required, colour (for example RAL) and, if needed, the fire resistance class.
- Part marking, if needed for erection on site.
The guide galvanizing or painting explains how to choose the surface protection.
Assembly drawing, part drawings and parts list
The assembly drawing shows how the parts fit together and where the welds go. Part drawings give the dimensions of each part. The parts list (bill of materials) lists the parts, quantities, sections and weights. The better these three match, the fewer questions.
Quantities, deadline and loading
Say in the request when you need the structures and whether they go in one delivery or in batches. Our typical lead time is 6–10 weeks, depending on drawings, volume and complexity.
We load the finished work onto your truck at our yard in Tallinn. Tell us which truck will collect the order and whether long or heavy parts need special loading. A single piece can weigh up to 5 tonnes, and lengths go up to 18 m regularly, up to about 20 m on request.
Revisions
Give every drawing a revision letter and a date. If a drawing changes after the quote, send the new revision and say what changed. That way it is clear which drawing the quote was based on and which one is built.
Send your request
Attach your drawings to the quote form and put quantities, material, surface protection and the deadline you need in the message. We will send you a quote. What drives the price is explained in what affects the cost of a steel structure. What we build: special metal structures and construction structures.
Send us your drawing
